SNCF Réseau and TSE have forged a long-term academic research partnership that has been in place for over ten years. Renewed in 2024, this collaboration aims to support high-level research on the economic challenges related to transportation infrastructure, its regulation, and its financing.

Activities

The research initiative, combines several types of activities:

  • Production of research on identified issues,
  • Meetings between researchers and key contacts at SNCF Réseau to support internal discussions,
  • The research projects encouraged within this framework are part of a long-term approach. Regular interactions take place between TSE researchers and SNCF Réseau teams.

The initiative benefits from visibility through TSE’s various communication channels.

Priority research areas

  • Optimal pricing for infrastructure access and proper use of the network
  • Ecological transition and the social value of the rail network
  • Opening TGV lines to competition
  • Adapting to climate change

Our collaboration with researchers at TSE [...] allows us to better understand our economic and regulatory environment, to grasp the interactions among the various stakeholders, and to anticipate the combined effects of opening the market to competition and pricing.
