N° 28 - Money at sea

Published on 13 October 2025

There’s the money we take out of our wallets or spend with our virtual credit cards. Then there’s the money in our bank accounts. Add to that the government’s public finances… and now, those famous cryptocurrencies everyone is talking about.

Sink or sail?

Money is everywhere. It shapes our daily lives, influences our choices, and molds our societies.

To explore it from every angle, this new issue of TSE Mag invites you to dive into economics and social sciences through the latest research. Seventeen TSE researchers tackle key questions:

  • Will we drown in debt?
  • Can finance save the planet?
  • How thinking shapes what we spend
  • Is cryptocurrency a bright idea?
  • Can money buy everything?

Throughout these pages, you’ll also discover the inspiring journeys of TSE graduates and students, pop culture references linked to the theme, and of course, a specially curated playlist. To go further, you’ll find all the scientific articles behind our work in the full bibliography available online.

Introduce your students to economics in a new light!

If you are a high school teacher, TSE offers you the opportunity to introduce your class to economic research. Students who receive our TSE Mag can participate in a meeting with a TSE researcher to discuss the topic of the latest issue and gain a practical understanding of what it means to be a researcher.

If you’d like to make it available to your students, TSE will be happy to send you free print copies. Simply request them via the dedicated form.

In 2025, TSE Mag received a joint second prize for Scientific Communication from ARCES, the network of communicators in higher education and research.
The jury praised “the relevance to the target audience, the choice and treatment of topics, the illustrations and infographics, as well as the local partnerships and the effectiveness of the distribution - 5,000 copies sent to high schools and shared on social media by TSE students.”
