The Toulouse School of Economics offers a two-year Master’s program in Economics and Law, with teaching delivered both in French and English. The combination of these two disciplines meets a genuine need in the job market for specialists capable of addressing complex issues that draw on the knowledge and modes of reasoning specific to both disciplines, whether in relation to the strategic behaviour of firms or individuals from an economic perspective, or the assessment of actions (and procedures) in the event of disputes from a legal perspective.
The first year builds on the first year of the TSE Master of Science in Economics and Law (third year of Licence).
In the second year, students can pursue a Master's degree in 'Economics and Competition Law', awarding a dual degree in Economics and Business Law (double-degree course).
Students are trained in industrial economics modeling and develop the ability to analyze and understand how markets function and the strategies of firms. They also develop a rigorous understanding of the rules of competition policy and law.
Aims of this Master's program
The aim of this Master’s program is to train students in the fields of Economics and Law so that they can best understand and apply competition rules. Competition policy is primarily shaped by economic theory on firms’ strategic choices and is enforced through the judicial system by the competition authority. It is therefore essential to understand how firms interact, how markets function and which rules are lawful and which are not, in order to ensure fair competition among market participants while protecting consumer interests.
Graduates of this Master’s program can pursue careers with competition authorities (French or European), in corporate legal departments, at consulting firms, or in government agencies.
Economics courses are taught in French and English. Law courses are delivered by the Faculté de Droit of Université Toulouse Capitole.
