The Initiative for Effective Corporate Climate Action
Partner since 2021
Getlink has been supporting research at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) since 2021. In May 2022, TSE and Getlink jointly launched the Initiative for Effective Corporate Climate Action (InECCA). Renewed in 2024 for a further three years, the initiative aims to foster an objective basis for dialogue between businesses and their stakeholders while supporting the development of tools that contribute to collective climate ambitions.
The initiative is intended to engage a wide range of audiences and to inform discussion and decision-making, particularly among business leaders across all sectors, stakeholders, policymakers and public authorities, students, PhD students, researchers, and the media.
Activities
The initiative combines several complementary activities:
- Producing research on topics of mutual interest;
- Organising seminars and regular exchanges;
- Presenting research findings at events for business leaders and sector stakeholders;
- Contributing to student challenges related to the initiative's themes.
Research projects are conducted from a long-term perspective and promote ongoing collaboration between TSE researchers and stakeholders, with the aim of informing public policies and economic decision-making related to the climate transition.
Priority research themes
- Metrics and indicators for assessing corporate and economy-wide decarbonisation efforts
- Effectiveness and climate relevance of key decarbonisation levers
- Fair and efficient allocation of decarbonisation costs
- Capacity of the business environment to effectively support corporate climate action
- Impact of corporate climate strategies -and, more broadly, ESG strategies- on economic performance, including the appropriate scope of corporate climate action
- Impact of the sustainability (climate value) of assets on their financial valuation and financing conditions
- Integration of climate action into corporate governance and business operations
- Relationship between corporate climate action and public policy
The initiative encourages research and provides opportunities for discussion across a wide range of topics related to corporate climate action :
Challenge for Corporate Climate Action
The Challenge for Corporate Climate Action is a student competition jointly organised by Getlink and the Toulouse School of Economics to promote innovative solutions to climate change, concluded on 24 April 2024 during the outstanding Rencontre du Climat.
The first prize was awarded to Foodprint, an application that enables users to visualise the carbon footprint of their food purchases. The second prize went to Torrent, a rainwater collection and redistribution solution designed to promote more sustainable water resource management.
The winning teams presented their projects to professionals gathered at the French Ministry for Ecological Transition..
Ecosprint Hackathon
The EcoSprint 2.0 Hackathon, organised by TSE Junior Études, took place on 26–27 September 2025 at the Toulouse School of Economics.
Open to students from across the Toulouse area, the event brought together multidisciplinary teams to tackle a challenge focused on rail transport. Organised in partnership with SNCF, Getlink and TSE's Infrastructure & Network Center, the hackathon gave participants the opportunity to work alongside industry experts before presenting their solutions to a professional jury.
The winning project, FretFlow, proposed a multimodal planning platform designed to simplify coordination between rail and road freight operators while making rail freight more accessible to SMEs.

The climate transition cannot succeed if its economic dimension is overlooked. Our long-standing collaboration with TSE, one of the world's leading institutions in research on corporate decarbonisation strategies, led us to develop the decarbonised margin indicator.

Initiatives for students
Alongside TSE-P, Getlink supports student initiatives that encourage innovation and active engagement in addressing the challenges of the climate and economic transition. These initiatives strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while encouraging the development of practical solutions.
As part of this commitment, Getlink and TSE jointly launched the Challenge for Corporate Climate Action in 2023 to encourage students to develop innovative solutions that enhance corporate climate action. The competition invites master's students to propose practical decarbonisation strategies that combine climate impact, economic feasibility and innovation, with guidance and evaluation from a jury comprising academic, industry and institutional experts. It reflects the shared ambition to strengthen dialogue between research, business and emerging talent.
In addition, Getlink supported the EcoSprint 2.0 Hackathon, organised by the TSE Junior Enterprise on 26–27 September 2025 at the Toulouse School of Economics. The event brought together multidisciplinary student teams tasked with developing practical solutions to overcome barriers to the expansion of rail freight, a key component of the ecological transition. By bringing together experts, data and real-world insights, the hackathon fostered innovation and strengthened ties between academia and industry.
