Research initiative on new challenges in competition economics
Partner since 2025
TSE has a long tradition of engaging with national competition authorities in Europe. The four national competition authorities (NCAs) including those of Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway, have entered into a new collaboration framework with TSE in 2025, as part of the Competition Policy & Regulation Center. The aim of this collaboration is to strengthen competition supervision, consolidate the decisions of competition authorities, and in the process, help develop impactful research.
Activities
The research initiative combines several forms of action:
- Multilateral brainstorming sessions between TSE researchers and the chief economists of these Nordic NCAs to address real-world cases and identify relevant policy issues calling for new research avenues on regulatory matters,
- Seminars for knowledge exchange, allowing researchers to present their work and experts from the authorities to share their experience and feedback,
- Executive education for the training and capacity building of experts from partner authorities.
The Initiative benefits from visibility through TSE’s various communication channels.
The research projects supported under this framework are part of a long-term approach. Regular interactions take place between TSE researchers and the chief economists or senior officials of the authorities.
