Research initiative on cancer, innovation, and hospital

Conducted in collaboration with IUCT-Oncopole, this initiative aims to better understand the transformations in oncology in the era of precision medicine by studying funding mechanisms, innovation policies, new healthcare delivery models, and the growing use of data.

Partner since 2023

Since 2021, teams from IUCT-Oncopole and TSE have developed several research collaborations within the TSE Health Center. In 2023, the two institutions formalized this collaboration by signing a research partnership—renewed in 2025—to strengthen exchanges among economists, researchers, and clinicians on issues related to innovation, organization, and financing in cancer care.

Building on the complementary expertise of both institutions, this partnership aims to advance research with significant scientific and operational impact, particularly through the use of real-world data and the economic analysis of changes in the healthcare system.

Activities

The Research Initiative combines several types of activities:

  • Development of collaborative research projects based on access to data and clinical expertise from the IUCT-Oncopole and its partners, particularly with doctoral students from the TSE Health Center,
  • Presentation of results at national and international scientific conferences, as well as researchers’ participation in leading academic, medical, and institutional events that promote the visibility of the research,
  • Implementation of initiatives to disseminate and popularize the research among healthcare professionals and the general audience.

The Initiative draws in particular on the event and outreach activities of TSE Health Center and benefits from enhanced visibility through the Center’s various communication channels.

The activities carried out are based on regular dialogue between TSE research teams and experts from IUCT-Oncopole to facilitate knowledge transfer and identify emerging research questions.

Priority research areas

  • Health financing, regulation, and policy
  • Evaluation and Commercialization of Innovations in Oncology
  • Organization of Care Pathways and Transformation of Hospital Practices
  • Artificial Intelligence and Equitable Access to Innovation

We must move beyond a purely cost-based approach to better measure the true value of health innovations in terms of lives saved and societal impacts. TSE’s work will help shed light on these issues and the effectiveness of our practices.
