Conference

In the company of scholars: from IO to Evolution to Religion, celebrating Paul Seabright

  • DateFrom 16 to 17 December 2026
  • Room TSE Building

Background & objective

Toulouse School of Economics is organizing a conference to celebrate the scholarship of Paul Seabright, Professor of Economics here since 2000, and Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse from  2012 to 2021. Throughout his quarter-century in Toulouse, he has done as much to help build our institutions as to advance his own research.

Paul Seabright is an internationally renowned economist, with contributions to an impressively broad range of issues, from the evolutionary foundations of human behavior and societies, to the economics of religion, AI and market power, voting, and smiling, to name a few.

This broad range of research interests will be reflected in the conference program. The conference will also feature a presentation of Paul’s latest book project, and a roundtable discussion on AI.
