Op-ed
Marine Le Pen's view is that foreigners are expensive. That's not true.

Interview with Libération, April 21, 2022
What would be the immediate economic consequences of Marine Le Pen’s election?
France would face a credibility crisis. Economically speaking, concerns would center on both the future of Europe and France’s creditworthiness. Her platform is a Frexit in disguise. It violates numerous EU rules, which would be unacceptable to other European countries—with the possible exception of Hungary. That would pose a problem. It is not possible, for example, to unilaterally reduce France’s contribution to the European budget, to impose barriers to trade and the free movement of people, or to fail to respect the human rights enshrined by the EU… The list goes on. Would other countries agree to help France if interest rates on its loans were to rise? I find it hard to imagine the European Central Bank making significant efforts to support France, or other countries agreeing to pool their borrowing with France… Doing without Europe—no longer having it to protect us—is very dangerous…
