How can we solve the economic equation of data spaces?
Published on 10 June 2026
In this conversation, Jacques Crémer explores one of the key challenges facing data spaces: the design of sustainable economic models. Drawing on insights from platform economics, he examines how incentives, pricing mechanisms, and value-sharing arrangements can encourage participation and support ecosystem growth.
A central question is how to attract the first participants to a data space while ensuring that the value created by data providers, developers, and service providers is fairly distributed. The discussion highlights the importance of rewarding unique contributions and aligning incentives across stakeholders.
The podcast illustrates how economic research can help address practical challenges in data governance and digital ecosystems. It also reflects TSE’s commitment to fostering collaboration between academia and industry, producing impactful research, and disseminating knowledge to inform public and business decision-making in the data economy.
