Joint Research Center-TSE Partnership

About

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission’s science and knowledge service. Its mission is to provide independent, evidence-based support for the design, implementation, and evaluation of European Union policies. The JRC conducts research in various areas.

The JRC and TSE have built a long-standing collaboration aimed at combining their expertise to inform scientific knowledge and support the regulation of digital services and platforms.

The two institutions foster close and mutually beneficial relationships through regular and productive exchanges — from joint research projects and workshops to training sessions, knowledge sharing, and policy discussions. Together, they tackle key topics such as the digital economy, big data, data science, algorithmic transparency, auditing of algorithmic systems, and trustworthy AI. Drawing on the strengths of highly qualified research teams, this collaboration has already led to pioneering contributions at the intersection of research and policymaking.

Activities performed with this collaboration feed into the research work under the aegis of the TSE Digital Center and the TSE Competition Policy & Regulation Center.
