Regulation & Development Research Initiative: States, Markets, and Information Asymmetries
Since the early 2000s, AFD and TSE have forged a fruitful partnership to analyze the economic, social, and environmental dynamics at the heart of development trajectories, paying particular attention to the regulatory issues and market failures that underpin them.
Renewed in 2025, this partnership is part of a broader ambition: to produce research that sheds light on the conditions under which the quality of goods and institutions, the regulatory architecture, and integration into international value chains can serve as sustainable levers for industrialization and productive transformation.
It also aims to better understand the mechanisms of polarization formation and diffusion in the age of disinformation, as well as to identify instruments that can limit its effects, whether public policies, regulatory mechanisms, or new scientific communication strategies based on trust and transparency.
Research performed with the support of AFD feeds into the resarch work under the aegis of the TSE Sustainable Finance Center and the TSE Infrastructure & Network Center.
Research topics
- Quality economics and development
- Disinformation, communication of scientific facts, and polarization of societies
