Biography
Sreemati Mitter is a Jean-Jaques Laffont Foundation Research Fellow at the Toulouse School of Economics, an associate member of TSE’s Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and an associate member of Sciences Po Toulouse. Her work focuses on the economic, social, and financial history of Palestine in the 19th and 20th centuries. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Middle East Studies and the Journal of Palestine Studies, and she is currently completing her first book, Frozen: A Financial History of the Palestinian Nakba. She received her doctorate in history from Harvard University. She previously worked at Brown University (where she was the Kutayba alGhanim Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern History and International and Public Affairs at the History Department and the Watson Institute); the Palestine Investment Fund in Ramallah, Occupied Palestinian Territories (where she was an investment officer); and at Credit Suisse in New York, (where she was an analyst at the Energy and Project Finance Group of the Investment Banking Division).
