Biography
Elton Freitas is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Federal University of Sergipe (Brazil) and a researcher in regional and applied economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is currently a Visiting Researcher at CEDEPLAR/UFMG and a researcher at the Observatory of Development (ObD–CEDEPLAR). His research lies at the intersection of economic complexity, regional and urban economics, and industrial development, with a focus on structural transformation, labor markets, and regional inequality. He has extensive experience applying quantitative methods, network analysis, and large-scale administrative data in empirical research. Throughout his career, he has combined academic work with experience in public policy and applied research, holding positions as a university lecturer, researcher, and economic analyst in institutions connected to economic development and policy evaluation.
