Ujjayant Chakravorty is Professor of Economics at Tufts University, Fellow at CESifo and Co-editor of the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management. He has worked on the economics of fossil fuels and clean energy. His current research focuses on energy poverty – studying the effect of energy policies on the poor in developing countries and understanding the relationship between resource degradation and energy use by the poor. He has received research funding from NSF, NOAA, SSHRC, and his work has been published in journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. He is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE), Resource and Energy Economics, Environmental Economics and Policy Studies and is a past associate editor of Water Resources Research. Chakravorty has a BS in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and a PhD in Resource and Environmental Economics from the University of Hawaii.
