Executive Education course: What’s new on competition in digital markets?

June 10, 2022, 09:00

Online

Objectives:

Data is regarded by some as the new oil. But what is true of the value of consumer data for firms? Does the possession of customer data facilitate personalized pricing, the provision of better products and services? Should these effects be taken into account together with the possible implications of data disclosure on privacy? And, last but not least, when and why is data a source of market power?

Key benefits:

  • Become acquainted with the most recent developments on the economic theory of the relationship between data, market, power, pricing, policies, and consumer welfare.

  • Understand the empirical relevance of those relationships and the difficulties of moving from theory to evidence

  • Join a policy debate involving leading scholars, practitioners, and policy makers about the risks and dangers of data "moats" for competition as well as the potential risks of over-regulating data.
