GLOBAL IQ

Impacts Quantification of Global changes

FP7 grant n° 266992

TSE is the coordinator of GLOBAL IQ network, leading a team of 11 European research institutions located in 8 different countries.

Granted with a 2.6 million € budget for a three-year contract (01/08/2011-31/07/2014), the project is in line with the research program initiated by the Stern Review in 2006 and the successive IPCC reports which aims to assess the scientific rationale for the anthropogenic climate risks, describe the possible consequences of climate change and identify the best mitigation and adaptation strategies to such a change for the current century.  The GLOBAL IQ project will update the Stern Review and provide a comprehensive assessment of the costs of climate change at the national, European and world scales in the medium and the long run together with an evaluation of the benefits of possible mitigation and adaptation policies.

The objective of the GLOBAL IQ project is three-fold:

- to provide significant advances in the estimation of socio-economic impacts of global challenges – at Global, European and regional scale;
- to identify optimal adaptation strategies;
- to evaluate total costs and the optimal mix of adaptation and mitigation against global changes.

Project dates: 01/08/2011 – 31/07/2014
