Background and Objectives
With the rapid aging of our societies and the ensuing increase in long-term care needs, one expects a mounting pressure on the traditional providers of long-term care, the state, the market and the family. This workshop will present a number of original contributions, both theoritical and empirical, on the way these different actors are supposed to cope with this raising demand, hopefully in a coordinated way. Among the highlights, there will be the distinction between medical and long-term care, the role of gender, the way the market operates and the choice between staying home or moving to a nursing home.
