 This paper develops a dynamic life-cycle model to examine how savings\nand
  labor supply decisions are shaped by health\, marital\, and wage risks\, 
 as\nwell as by bequest motives. The model incorporates endogenous human ca
 pital\naccumulation and retirement\, child-rearing costs\, and the risks a
 ssociated with\nmarital transitions\, health\, medical expenses–including 
 at the end of life. It also\nallows for bequest motives which can capture 
 the observed division of transfers\nto the surviving spouse and other heir
 s upon the death of the first spouse\, as\nwell as the transfers to all he
 irs upon the death of the last household member.\nWe estimate it using PSI
 D and HRS data for the 1941–1945 cohort and the\nMethod of Simulated Momen
 ts. Our findings reveal the critical role of these\nrisks and bequest moti
 ves in shaping savings\, labor decisions\, and the interplay\nbetween risk
 s and bequests over the life cycle.
