DESCRIPTION:Michel Benaim (Université de Neuchâtel)\, “Piecewise Determinis
 tic Markov Processes”\, MAD-Stat. Seminar\, Toulouse: TSE\, May 26\, 2025\
, 11:00–12:15\, room Auditorium 3.\n\nA Piecewise Deterministic Markov Pro
cess (PDMP) is defined by a (finite) family of deterministic dynamical sys
tems (usually ordinary differential equations) and a random clock. The sys
tem follows a given dynamic\, and when the clock rings\, it switches to an
other dynamic\, randomly chosen. This type of process naturally appears in
  several fields (population dynamics\, cell biology\, computer science\, e
tc.) where the system's evolution is deterministic but depends on an envir
onment subject to random fluctuations.\nThe qualitative analysis of the lo
ng-term behavior of PDMPs has been the focus of much attention over the la
st decade. In this talk\, I will offer a general introduction to the subje
ct\, illustrate my points with several examples\, and present the main res
ults obtained — in collaboration with several researchers — over the past
 ten years.
