 ging products and the effects\nof holding the platform liable for the pres
 ence of such products on innovation and\nconsumer welfare. The impact of p
 latform liability on innovation can be either\npositive or negative and cr
 itically depends on the existence and nature of cross-group\nnetwork effec
 ts. A necessary but not sufficient condition for platform liability to\nbe
 nefit consumers is that it leads to more innovation. We consider various e
 xtensions\nthat allow us to identify additional forces that strengthen or 
 weaken the desirability\nof liability for innovators and consumers.
